How to Disable Windows 10 Auto Arrange Setting

When you attempt to re-arrange the files and folders in File Explorer in your Windows 10 PC, then you will notice that the files and folders are automatically arranged. Older versions of Windows like XP and Vista has the feature to arrange and re-organize files within a folder. However, users cannot do so in Windows 10. However, do not fret. Ways to turn off auto arrange in Windows 10

Disabling Auto Arrange Inside Folders in Windows 10
  1. Open the Run prompt by pressing the Windows and R keys simultaneously.
  2. Input regedit in the blank and click on OK.
  3. Now, in the Registry Editor, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesLocal SettingsSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsShell.
  4. Simply right-click on the Bags folder.
  5. Select Delete from the pop-out menu.
  6. After that, head to the following:
  7. Right-click on the Bags folder.
  8. Click on Delete from the list of options.
  9. After that, pay a visit to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsShellNoRoam.
  10. Right-click on the Bags sub-key.
  11. Select the Delete option from the menu.
  12. Click on the X button at the top right to close the Registry Editor.
  13. Launch the Task Manager by using the Control+Shift+Escape keyboard shortcut.
  14. Find Windows Explorer amongst the listing of processes.
  15. Now, hit the Restart button.
  16. Download the zipped file.
  17. After downloading, extract the files.
  18. Run it on the computer.
  19. Now, just reboot the computer.
The auto arrange setting is turned off now, and you are free to arrange files in the folder as you like.
How to disable Auto Arrange in File Explorer
  1. Launch the File Explorer and open any folder.
  2. Right-click on the blank area in the window.
  3. Select view from the pop-out menu.
  4. Ensure that the Auto arrange box is not checkmarked.
  5. If auto arrange is disabled then the items can get arranged however you wish.
  6. Head over to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsShellNoRoam
  7. Right-click on Bags and delete it.
  8. Close the window.
  9. Press the Control+Shift+Escape keys to prompt the Task Manager.
  10. Find the Windows Explorer process.
  11. Click on Restart.
  12. Now, just download the zip folder.
  13. Extract all data from the folder.
  14. Run it on your computer.
  15. Restart the computer.
