How to fix black screen in Windows 10 during installation

During the installation process of Windows 10, if you run across a black screen. This could mean that the process is taking place in the background. The first thing to be done in this situation is to leave the black screen for at least 6 hours especially when your computer is slow. Better the hardware, faster will be the process. Give Windows a chance to sort itself out is worthy. If nothing happens after this time, hold down the power button on your machine for 10 seconds to force it to shut down. Unplug every trivial thing and try to boot your computer up again and restart the process of installation. If still, you are finding trouble then try to install Windows from a bootable USB drive.

Resolving Black screen During or after Windows 10 Installation

Most probably Black screens are experienced when you install Windows 10 first time. This may happen during the Windows 10 installation process or afterward. There are some probable causes:
  • Set up is still in progress. If you have significant personal data for migration from the previous window, Windows 10 setup process could take several hours.
  • Solution- Observe the activity of hard drive LED firmly to determine if the computer is still in progress or not. If the LED starts blinking, it means that the set up is busy working on sorting through your files. If the set up goes beyond 2 to 7 hours, then setup may be struck.

How to fix it step by step?

  • Completely Power down the computer. If it doesn’t shut down, hold the power button for 5-10 seconds.
  • Disconnect from the internet by switching off the wireless adapter or unplugging the Ethernet cable. Learn to disable the LAN connection before Windows 10 setup.
  • Disconnect all unimportant peripherals from PC. Remove all the external hard drives, phone charges, game controllers except for the mouse and the Keyboard.
  • Remove power from the computer, disconnect the power cord. If it is a laptop, remove the battery, wait for a minimum of 30 seconds before plugging in your computer back.
  • Now, connect the system again to power but leave the Internet disconnected.
  • Now Windows will try to resume or restart Windows 10 set up the process.
If installations usually complete, you should go to Windows desktop with Start menu. Go ahead and reconnect to the Internet,and finish downloading. If the Set up rolls back to the previous version of Windows, try manually upgrading it by using Media Creation tool.
